Saint Martin de Porres High School
Welcome to Saint Martin de Porres High School, a Catholic college-preparatory program designed exclusively for students of low to modest economic means. Founded in 2004 as part of the Cristo Rey Network of schools, 80% of our students will be the first in their extended families to go to college. Our student body is racially diverse being made up of 78% African-American, 11% Anglo, 5% Latino, 5.5% multi-racial, .5% Asian, and a male/female ratio of 40/60 respectively. We have a rigorous curriculum, which includes students working in a corporate environment, designed by a committee of prestigious educational leaders, and has resulted in 100% of our first two graduating classes being accepted to college.
Our mission is to transform urban Cleveland one student at a time and we are committed to the values of work, study, service, leadership and prayer. In pursuit of this mission, we educate academically qualified students who have no other option for a private college prep program due to their economic background.
We help alleviate the cost of tuition through the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) where every student participates by working five days a month in entry-level administrative corporate positions. CWSP is part of our innovative college preparatory curriculum, rooted in the development of habits of mind and spirit combined with a unique partnership with the business community that covers approximately 60% of the annual tuition.
