The Business of Good Foundation is proud to have the Free Hand Ministry Center as the main partner representing the Outreach division of the foundation. The Business of Good Foundation is also the foremost supporter of the Free Hand Ministry Center.
Located at the corner of E. 55th and St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland, OH, the Free Hand Ministry Center was started 10 years ago by Tim McCarthy and Father Norm Smith (Divine Word Parish, Kirtland, OH and St. Philip Neri Church, St. Clair Superior neighborhood, Cleveland, OH.) The center strives to serve the St. Clair Superior Neighborhood by providing services and referring to other not-for-profit agencies to those who need their help.
The mission of the Free Hand Ministry Center is to identify, provide and refer services in the St. Clair-Superior community that will assist individuals in attaining a better quality of life.
The Free Hand Ministry Center currently offers 9 programs to help those in need.
- The Referral Service assists clients in getting the best service to meet their needs; connecting with other services in the St. Clair Superior neighborhood of Cleveland and other services outside of the community. Included with the service are the necessary phone calls and transportation.
- The Victims of Crime Association (VOCA) Program informs victims of crime of their legal rights: assistance with the preparation and completion of the compensation application, necessary referrals, court support and representation.
- Legal Assistance is comprised of three different programs. Our Expungement Program assists individuals in determining whether the crime they committed can be eradicated or not. These individuals also have the opportunity to talk with an attorney to discuss options. The Notary Program offers the service for important documents such as a living wills or a power of attorney. The Legal Assistance Program helps individuals address non-criminal court cases and refers them to someone who can take their case.
- The I.D. Program assists qualified individuals to obtain birth certificates and state identification for themselves and/or their children.
- Employment Services are comprised of three separate programs. The Readiness and Employment Services Program helps individuals with resume preparation, work ethics, workplace regulations and interviewing strategies. The Janitorial Training Program is an intense 8-week program that trains and certifies individuals with skills in commercial, residential, industrial and green cleaning techniques. The Home Health Aide Training Program offers two week concentrated training and graduating students receive a home health aide certificate.
The Free Hand Ministry Center continues to evolve, evaluating the needs and the availability of services for the St. Clair Superior community.
